To understand Pune, you must walk the Peths. These historical wards (neighborhoods) were established during the Maratha and Peshwa eras, often named after the days of the week on which their respective markets were held.

The defining feature of the Peths is the Wada — traditional courtyard mansions characterized by intricate woodwork.
